Everything we get asked, grouped by topic. Each answer links to the page with the detail.
Shopify development
Go to page →- How much does a Shopify store setup cost in Malaysia?
- WebCEO store setup packages start at RM850 one-time for a starter store (theme setup, domain pointing, up to 10 products). Basic is RM2,850 and Professional is RM5,500. Theme licence fees and Shopify plan fees are paid separately.
- Do you design custom Shopify themes?
- Yes. We either customise one of Shopify's commercial themes to your brand or design and build a fully custom theme in Liquid. Custom design is quoted per project after a scope call.
- How long does a Shopify store take to launch?
- A starter setup is usually live in 2 to 3 weeks once content is supplied. Custom-designed stores with integrations typically take 6 to 12 weeks.
- Do I need to buy the Shopify plan myself?
- Yes. Shopify bills the plan to you directly in USD. We set the store up under your account so you own it from day one.
- Can you set up Shopify POS at the same time?
- Yes. Most retail clients add Shopify POS during the build so inventory, staff and customers are shared between outlets and the online store from launch.
Shopify migration
Go to page →- What can be migrated to Shopify?
- Products and variants, orders, customers, content pages and blogs, loyalty programme data, and point-of-sale history from Magento, WooCommerce, OpenCart and PrestaShop.
- Will my Google rankings drop after migrating to Shopify?
- Not if URLs are mapped and redirected. We map every old product, category and content URL to its new Shopify path with 301 redirects and submit the new sitemap on launch day.
- How long does a migration to Shopify take?
- Four to ten weeks is typical. Data volume, custom integrations and theme design decide the timeline. The old store keeps running until cut-over.
- Is there downtime during the switch?
- No. The new Shopify store is built and tested on a staging domain. Cut-over is a DNS change with a final data sync, usually done outside trading hours.
- How do I know it is time to replatform?
- When traffic spikes hurt uptime, security has failed, your team says "we can't do that", patches keep breaking things, or new features are always delayed. If two or more apply, it is time.
Shopify POS
Go to page →- What is Shopify POS?
- Shopify POS is the point-of-sale app and hardware that lets a retailer sell in person using the same products, inventory, customers and orders as their Shopify online store.
- How much does Shopify POS cost in Malaysia?
- POS Lite is included in every Shopify plan. POS Pro adds staff permissions, advanced inventory and retail reports at USD 79 per location per month billed yearly. Check Shopify's current pricing before budgeting.
- Can Shopify POS run several outlets?
- Yes. Each outlet is a location with its own stock, staff and reports, all managed from one admin. Transfers and purchase orders move stock between locations.
- Does Shopify POS work with shopping mall GTO systems?
- Not on its own. WebCEO's GTO integration reads daily sales from Shopify POS and submits the file each mall requires, for 25+ malls in Malaysia and Singapore.
- Can customers buy online and pick up in store?
- Yes. Local pickup, local delivery and ship-to-home are standard. Inventory is shared, so an online order can be fulfilled from the nearest outlet.
- What hardware do I need?
- An iPad or Android tablet running the POS app, a card terminal, a receipt printer and optionally a barcode scanner and cash drawer. We advise on what works with Malaysian payment providers.
Support and maintenance
Go to page →- What does a Shopify support package include?
- Design changes, Shopify Liquid code amendments, support on the Shopify admin, and adding products or page content. Work is delivered within 3 to 5 working days.
- How much is Shopify support in Malaysia?
- Hourly work is RM350 per hour. Credit-hour packages reduce the rate: 30 hours for RM7,875, 50 hours for RM11,375 and 100 hours for RM19,250. Credits are valid for 365 days.
- Do credit hours expire?
- Yes, 365 days from purchase. Unused hours are not refunded, so we size the package to your expected change volume.
- Can you support a store you did not build?
- Yes. We take over existing stores after a short audit of the theme and apps. Most clients on support packages were not built by us.
Shopify e-Invoice Malaysia
Go to page →- How do I issue LHDN e-invoices from Shopify?
- Install the WebCEO E-Invoice Malaysia app from the Shopify App Store, enter your business details once, and the app generates and submits MyInvois e-invoices for online and POS orders automatically.
- How much does the Shopify e-invoice app cost?
- USD 24 per month on the Shopify App Store, or USD 240 a year, with a 7-day free trial. The Standard plan covers up to 100 e-invoice submissions a day. Higher volumes and multi-location setups are quoted.
- Can customers request their own e-invoice?
- Yes. Each order gets a self-service link. The customer enters their tax details on any device and receives the validated e-invoice without staff involvement.
- What happens to sales where no e-invoice is requested?
- The app lists them in a monthly consolidated report and submits a consolidated e-invoice to LHDN within the allowed window, as the MyInvois rules permit for B2C sales.
- Does it work with Shopify POS?
- Yes. In-store POS orders and online orders are handled the same way, so a retailer with outlets and a web store has one e-invoice record.
- Does it handle refunds and credit notes?
- Yes. Credit notes, debit notes and refund notes are generated and submitted when an order is refunded or adjusted in Shopify.
Shopping mall GTO
Go to page →- What is GTO in a shopping mall?
- GTO stands for Gross Turnover. Malls charge tenants rent partly based on sales, so the tenancy agreement requires the tenant to submit daily sales figures to the mall or its appointed agent.
- What happens if I do not submit GTO sales?
- Penalty fees under the tenancy agreement, or the mall estimates your sales and bills rent on that estimate, which is usually higher than actual.
- Which malls does the WebCEO GTO integration support?
- Over 25 including 1 Utama, IOI City Mall, KLCC, Mid-tier malls like Central i-City and Paradigm, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Queensbay Mall, Sunway malls, TRX and Toppen JB, plus JEM and 313@somerset in Singapore.
- My mall is not on the list. Can you add it?
- Usually yes. Send us the mall's file specification or the person in charge and we will quote a one-time integration fee for that mall.
- What if a day's sales figure is wrong?
- Tell us your Shopify store domain. We request collaborator access, trace the day's orders and refunds, and correct the submission with the mall.
- What if the mall says a GTO file is missing?
- Create a manual job for that date in the app and the file is regenerated and resent. If it happens again, contact us and we will investigate the cause.
